Edwin Van der Sar rules out United slip
Edwin van der Sar has insisted Manchester United will not suffer any hangover from their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City.
United's Treble dreams went up in smoke at Wembley on Saturday, but they still have battles to fight on two fronts with Champions League and Premier League challenges facing the Red Devils.
Sir Alex Ferguson gets a rapid chance to put his players back into the saddle with a trip to Newcastle on Tuesday and Dutch keeper Van der Sar is expecting the right response.
"It won't be difficult to pick ourselves up," he said. "We know how important the league is. We are in first position, so we just have to make the best of it."
Van der Sar has admitted United were jaded at Wembley and knows they must improve.
"We were a little bit tired," he said. "The pace of our game was not quick enough. We have played a big number of games in the last three or four weeks and against Newcastle we must do better.
"No one likes to lose at any time but in general, there is a good feeling about how things are going."
