Sania enters round two
Indian ace tennis player Sania Mirza entered the women's singles second round of the French Open with a straight set victory over Germany's Kristina Barrios on Monday.
The World No 74, Sania got the better of Barrios 6-3, 6-3 in the match that lasted around 75 minutes.
Despite 26 unforced errors as against 20 made by Barrios, Sania kept the pressure intact on her opponent with her top-notch serve.
Sania raced away with the first set in 34 minutes, breaking the German in the fourth and the eighth game.
The top ranked Indian player carried the momentum in the second round and with a superb forehand down the line to break Barrois in the third game.
Sania broke her German opponent, who is 15 ranks above the Indian, again in the ninth game to seal the match.
She next plays the winner of the match between Austria's Patricia Mayr-Achleitner and 12th seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.
