Wenger considered Owen bid
Arsene Wenger has admitted that he considered bringing Owen Hargreaves to Arsenal in the summer.
Hargreaves ended an injury-plagued spell at Manchester United in the summer and famously posted a video on the Internet of his training regime in a bid to impress potential suitors.
Manchester City ultimately stepped in to offer the midfielder a contract, but he could have been on Arsenal's books had Wenger followed up his interest.
"When he played at Bayern Munich, we followed him very closely but it was a big transfer - he was sold to Manchester United for £17m and he only had one year left on his contract," Wenger said.
"In the summer we reconsidered but we had players like Hargreaves in these defensive positions, where we were not really in the need."
