Adrian Sutil to stand trial for nightclub incident
Adrian Sutil will stand trial later this month charged with grievous bodily harm against Genii Capital CEO Eric Lux.
The charge relates to an incident in a Shanghai nightclub following last year's Chinese Grand Prix, where Sutil is alleged to have cut Lux with a broken glass, leaving him requiring stitches to his neck. A report in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung claims that the prosecution will be pushing for a one-year jail sentence at the court in Munich.
The SID agency quotes Sutil's manager Manfred Zimmermann as saying: "We are prepared for it and hope that the matter will be cleared up."
Sutil is currently without a drive for the 2012 season, with Williams appearing to be his most viable option. However, the impending case and potential outcome all but ends his chances of securing the seat ahead of the likes of Rubens Barrichello and Bruno Senna.
