Norwich poised for Howson arrival
Norwich boss Paul Lambert expects a deal for midfielder Jonny Howson to be wrapped up imminently, with the 23-year-old's transfer likely to be concluded by Friday evening.
Leeds United captain Howson arrived at the Premier League club on Friday morning to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms, and Lambert is confident that the player's current knee injury was no cause for concern.
"You never quite know until someone signs but I'm pretty sure it's nearly there," said Lambert of Howson, who has been sidelined for the past month.
"We know the extent of the injury and there are no worries about it."
Norwich have agreed a fee believed to be around the £2 million mark for Howson, who Lambert sees as an excellent addition to his midfield options.
"He's been brilliant for Leeds and we need a goalscoring midfielder," said Lambert. "If everything goes well he'll be great for us. His rehab is going very well and he is not far away (from playing)."
Howson came through the Leeds youth system and has scored 25 goals in 190 league appearances for the club since turning professional in 2006.
