Cabaye ordered to serve three-match ban
The FA has rejected Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye's appeal against the red card he picked up in the FA Cup tie at Brighton over the weekend.
Cabaye, 26, was retrospectively charged by the Football Association after appearing to deliberately kick out at Brighton defender Adam El-Abd at the Amex Stadium.
The France international contested the FA's decision but the ban was upheld, meaning he will miss Newcastle's next three matches starting with Wednesday's match against Blackburn.
Cabaye, who joined Newcastle from Lille for £4.8 million last summer, will also be absent for the upcoming matches against Aston Villa and Tottenham.
Reacting to the verdict, Cabaye wrote on his official Twitter account: "3 matchs ban it's a real injustice but life goes on !!! In my teammates i trust ...''
