Team GB stun Germany to reach final
Great Britain's women beat rivals Germany to reach their first Champions Trophy final with a 2-0 win in Argentina.
Goals from Sarah Thomas and Ashleigh Ball helped Danny Kerry's side claim a hard-fought win against the side ranked No. 3 in the world.
Thomas set Team GB on course for victory, finishing from close range after captain Kate Walsh's initial effort from a penalty corner was saved by keeper Yvonne Frank. The second goal also came from a penalty corner, Ball pouncing to tap in unmarked at the far post after top scorer Crista Cullen's shot was heading wide.
The win sees them face world champions Argentina, who beat the Netherlands on penalty strokes after a 2-2 draw in the second semi-final Rosario.
"I'm chuffed to bits, coach Kerry said. "The girls are a pleasure to work with, they listen to everything and they work intently. I'm proud to work with them. We've easily been in the top two teams here, and we deserve to be in the final. It's nice to make history. What more can you say?"
