Pardew bemoans Sunderland's 'ugly' tactics
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew complained about Sunderland's "ugly" style during a fiery derby between the two clubs, which finished 1-1: "In the first half Sunderland came here to upset us and Cattermole set the scene, it was ugly.
Luckily we got to half-time and got into our players about calming down and playing the game. We put them under pressure and sometimes people crack. And when Sessegnon was sent off it was all us."
Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill had no problem with either of the red cards that were shown to Stephane Sessegnon and Lee Cattermole: "It's [the Sessegnon red] a sending-off offence [striking out at Cheik Tiote] and it hands the initiative to the opposition.
"I have gone in to see the referee [about Cattermole] and you can't be abusing the referee and therefore it has to be merited."
Fulham boss Martin Jol after his side thrashed Wolves 5-0, with Pavel Pogrebnyak scoring a hat-trick: "We had a very good afternoon but we played very good football as well. We had 26 attempts on goal and we had to wait but when Pavel scored I don't think there was a way back for Wolves.
"He has scored five goals in three games and he helps the other strikers as well. We have Andy Johnson, who is always involved, and Clint Dempsey, who equalled his best goal tally for the season, but now we have Pavel so it is very pleasing."
