Serbia to face Czech Republic in Fed Cup final
Czech Republic and Serbia will duke it out in the Fed Cup final after both built unassailable leads, against Italy and Russia respectively, on Sunday.
The Czechs were always in command of their tie after Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova put them into a 2-0 lead after the first day with singles victories.
And Kvitova finished the job in the third rubber, beating former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone 6-4 7-6(1). Kvitova, who claimed the Wimbledon title last year, grabbed four breaks in a success that took one hour and 47 minutes to complete.
In contrast, Russia and Serbia were locked at 1-1 at the end of Saturday - only for Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic to tilt the tie towards their nation.
Ivanovic shrugged off a slow start to sink Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 3-6 6-0 6-3, while Jankovic cruised past Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-1 6-4.
