Fernando Alonso will test for Ferrari on two of the three days of the Mugello test as the team decides not to split its running 50:50.

14171 - Alonso gets Mugello preference

With the mid-season test next week taking on huge importance for Ferrari following its poor start to the season, the team has opted to stick with its race drivers for the whole test. Rivals such as McLaren and Lotus are giving at least some running to test drivers, but the team announced on its official website that it would run Alonso on Tuesday and Thursday, while Felipe Massa will be in the car on Wednesday.

Team principal Stefano Domenicali also warned that, despite the team hoping to make significant progress during the test, not all the parts it hopes to run at the next race will be ready in time to be tested.

"The coming days will be very important, during which the primary objective will be to push as hard as possible on the development of the car," he said. "Next week we have three days of testing at Mugello, but it's not definite that all the updates planned for Barcelona will be seen then."

Williams has yet to confirm its plans for Mugello, but has announced that Bruno Senna, Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas will all get some running.
