One killed in Peshawar blast, rocket attack

PESHAWAR: A person was killed and three were wounded in a blast and rocket attack on checkpost in the provincial capital on Thursday.A mechanic, Mohib was killed while another person, Israr, was wounded in a blast in the Scheme Chowk on the Kohat Road.

The security forces cordoned off the area after the blast and the two injured were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where one Mohib succumbed to his injuries.Separately, a rocket hit a security post at the Industrial Estate in Hayatabad. Two security guards of a private company, Riaz and Haris, were wounded and were taken to the Hayatabad Medical Complex for treatment.

Meanwhile, the militants stormed the Manzoor Shaheed Checkpost of the Sarband Police Station on the boundary between Peshawar district and Khyber Agency. Exchange of heavy fire continued for an hour but there were no reports of any casualty.
