Schumacher counting on strong race in Canada
Michael Schumacher says Mercedes is counting on its car performing well at next weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.
The Mercedes is expected to suit the Montreal circuit due to its double DRS advantage on the long straights in qualifying and its strong traction out of slow corners. Schumacher was fastest in qualifying in Monaco last weekend and is confident of another competitive weekend in Canada.
"The characteristics of the circuit should suit us, and we are counting on our car performing well there," he said. "A trip to Montreal is always worth it. And let's hope we can make our trip this year especially worthwhile."
Team-mate Nico Rosberg, who finished second in Monaco, is also confident Mercedes' good form will continue at next weekend's race.
"With its low downforce and slow corners, a little bit like Monza, the track should suit our car," he said. "We've made good progress over the past few weeks, and that was clear from the performance in Monaco. So I'm hopeful that we can make another step forward in Canada and have a successful weekend."
