David Ferrer wins fifth title of the season in Sweden
David Ferrer secured his fifth title of the season as he extended his unbeaten record against Nicolas Almagro to win the SkiStar Swedish Open in Bastad.
The top seed had won all ten of his previous matches against his fellow Spaniard and never looked in danger of defeat as he eased to a 6-2 6-2 victory on Sunday.
Ferrer made his breakthrough as he broke Almagro for a 4-2 lead before grabbing a double break to wrap up the opening set in a shade over half an hour.
The world No. 5, who beat Almagro in the Buenos Aires final earlier this year, lost nine points on serve in the second set as he breezed to victory in 68 minutes to regain the title he last won in 2007.
In Stuttgart, the Mercedes Cup final was won by Janko Tipsarevic, who won a battle of the top seeds against Juan Monaco. Tipsarevic was the more dangerous player throughout, creating 14 break chances to Monaco's five, and victory arrived in two hours and 35 minutes.
