BRISBANE: Bowlers’ domination continued as 16 wickets tumbled on an eventful second day here at Gabba on Friday in the first Test between Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand were all out for 156 runs in the first innings in reply to Australia’s 214 and Australia in their second innings were 131 for six with an overall lead of 189 runs with four wickets remaining at the end of the second day. New Zealand began their incomplete first innings at seven for nought today but fast bowler Mitchell Johnson and other Aussie bowlers did not let them stay for long at the crease and dismissed theme for 156. Rose Taylor (40), Daniel Taylor (39) and Jesse Ryder (30) were the main scorers. For Australia, Johnson captured four wickets while Brett lee, Stuart Clarke and Shane Watson claimed two wickets each. Australia also began their second innings disastrously as their top-order batting except opener Simon Katich, collapsed early. Chris Martin sent three Kiwi batsmen back to pavilion and Iain O’Brien dismissed two. However, left-hand Katich batted courageously and remained not out on 67 with brad Haddin (6) when the bails were off on the second day.
