Presenting 7 demands Imran said fair elections were not possible without resignation by President.
LAHORE: PTI Chief Imran Khan has presented seven demands and giving eight days’ deadline for their acceptance by the government.
Addressing a press conference Tuesday, he said if his demands were not accepted within eight days PTI would launch Sonami March.
Imran Khan said that both the federal as well as provincial governments were misusing public funds for their vested interests.
He put the list of demands comprising six points, with the warning that if his demands were not met within 10 days, he would have to stand by the people who are raising voice for rule of law and supremacy of the constitution in its true spirit.
He said that federal government is unscrupulously spending public funds for its vested interests. According to budget, billions of rupees had been allocated for Chitral tunnels but the prime minister used these funds in Benazir Income Support Program which is nothing but a tactic to back election campaign.
He said that the prime minister Raja Pevez Ashraf had discretionary powers to spend Rs 35 billion which had been wasted in a short period.
While lashing out on Punjab CM, Khan said that he is using billions of rupees in the name of so-called laptop scheme. Actually he has nothing to do with future of the youth and students; rather is mission is to undertake the election campaign in the name of students’ schemes.
He also demanded that president Asif Ali Zardari should tender his resignation and announce the date of forthcoming elections so that the government may he handed over to any reliable team.
“Fair elections are not possible as long as Asif Ali Zardari is sitting in the Presidency”, said Khan.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of current ECP he said it had failed in stopping the pre-poll rigging. Government funds are being used by for election campaign.
“Caretaker setup by the mutual understanding of PPP and PML-N will not be accepted”, added PTI chairman.
He added postings and transfers are being done by the incumbent in order to rig the elections.
To a question, Imran said there would be bloodshed in the country if the upcoming elections were rigged.
About Dr Tahirul Qadri’s long march he said he agreed with the demands and agenda of Qadi but PTI’s strategy is different. “We want change through constitutional means and fair elections.”
