This year's Ballon d'Or winner - Ronaldo or Messi?
Pete Hall (@Pistolpeteh86) for Ronaldo
We are all running out of superlatives to describe the man from Madeira. Now the bookies favourite for the award after the announcement of a voting extension until November 29, I personally think it would be a minor miracle if the former Manchester United superstar doesn't finally usurp his Argentinian arch-nemesis and collect the World's top individual honour.
The Portuguese has notched an incredible 31 goals for club and country already this season, an average of 1.41 goals per game for his club and in the calendar year has 66 strikes to his name - unbelievable.
With a player of Lionel Messi's ability constantly overshadowing Ronaldo since winning the award whilst still at Manchester United, the Real Madrid forward would have been forgiven for resting on his laurels, and accepting his place as the second best player on the planet.
But the sheer drive and determination of the man is never-ending, and year on year he has added more to his game, improved all over the pitch, and most importantly for club and country, has maintained his goalscoring record, and is even on course to better it this campaign.
Not blessed with the same natural flair and ability that Messi possesses, Ronaldo is a supreme athlete, and has gotten where he is by sheer hard work and faith in his own talent, and when the ultimate individual award comes his way, there will be nobody more deserving than the 28-year-old.

James Marshment (@MarshyLeeds) for Messi
Lionel Messi remains the best player in the game and has once again has had a year to remember.
While there is no doubt that his main rival Cristiano Ronaldo has excelled too, the numbers don't lie for the little Argentinian, and Messi's current stat of 45 goals in 46 games this calendar year tells its own story.
It is easy to highlight the case for Ronaldo given his recent heroics for Portugal, but the Ballon d'Or measures the achievements of an entire year, and there is no doubting that Messi boasts the better record.
Take last season for example: Messi (60 goals in 50 games, with 16 assists) outscored Ronaldo (55 goals in 55 games, with 12 assists).
It was also no coincidence that Barcelona, and not Real Madrid, won La Liga last season; Barca romping to the 100-point total and destroying Real by an impressive 15 points.
This season and it's an already a familiar story; Barcelona are six-points clear of their rivals, with Real's star slipping to the extent where many now see Atletico as Barca's chief rivals in the title race.
The last month has seen the balance tip slightly in Ronaldo's favour, admittedly, due to the Portuguese forward's heroics in the World Cup play-offs, but Messi continues to deliver when it matters most and he should not lose his Ballon d'Or crown simply because Ronaldo is more in the limelight at a time when Messi nurses a hamstring problem.
