Rampant Liverpool score six at Cardiff
A sixth successive Premier League victory for Brendan Rodgers and three more goals for Luis Suarez. If there had been any doubting Liverpool's ability to negotiate sticky situations in their quest to win the title for the first time in 24 years, there shouldn't be.
Cardiff City, with only one win in their previous seven league and cup games, not only led this contest twice, but looked anything but a side haunted by the reality of an immediate return to the Championship.
However, such is the confidence and swagger with which Liverpool are playing these days, that not even three goals were enough to deny the Reds. Martin Skrtel helped himself to a couple, Suarez added three of his own and Daniel Sturridge capped another blistering performance with a tap in from a Suarez assist.
It was the perfect end to a day that began in rather sobering fashion for the visitors. From Cardiff's first piece of possession, Gerrard was booked for hauling down Fraizer Campbell and four minutes later, Fabio and Campbell combined down the right to set up Jordon Mutch who, in turn, beat Simon Mignolet from a dozen yards.
Eight minutes later, the visitors were level. Showing terrific patience against Cardiff's rearguard action, Jordan Henderson fed the ball inside Declan John and Glen Johnson's cross was duly dispatched with aplomb by Suarez.
