Malik leads Punjab to second win

KARACHI: Pakistan skipper and all-rounder Shoaib Malik led Punjab Stallions to an exciting 17 runs victory over NWFP Panthers for his team''s second win in as many matches in the RBS Pentangular cricket here Monday at National stadium.

Punjab Stallions, defending a small total of 229 succeeded in bowling out the opponents to 212 with one ball to spare in the match after Shoaib Malik had taken two most important wickets at a moment when NWFP led by Yasir Hameed almost got to a stage from where they could have easily reached the winning target.

Skipper Shoaib Malik bowled his counterpart Yasir Hameed after the opener had made responsible 57 runs and later he had Khurram Shahzad leg before for 32. These two had added 65 for the third wicket stand.

Earlier, when Punjab Stallions was sent into bat Shoaib Malik added responsible 42 in 55 balls hitting just four boundaries before getting run out. His innings came at a time when getting runs had become difficult.
