Pak- Sri Lanka series appears doubtful
KARACHI: It appears that the international cricket would remain apathetic to Pakistan even on the advent of next year.
Doubts over Sri Lanka’s planned tour of Pakistan have emerged, as Sri Lanka, instead of coming to Pakistan, wants to invite Indian team visiting their country.
Sri Lankan sports ministry in tandem with the dissolution of Cricket Board’s Ad hoc Committee has changed its stance, as Minister of Sports, Gamini Lokuge said he was not interested in sending his team to Pakistan and instead he wanted to invite the Indian team to tour Sri Lanka.
Sources said that the Committee headed by former captain, Arjuna Ranatunga was dissolved due to the pressure of activated Indian lobbies. It is believed a serious conflict between Ranatunga and the sports minister have exacerbated the problem and most likely the next chief of Sri Lanka Cricket would be appointed from among the Indian lobby, which has evaporated all hopes of slated Pakistan-Sri Lanka series in the country.
