Cricket: Bangladesh face Sri Lanka in first test tomorrow
DHAKA: The first Test of the Grameenphone Test Series will begin tomorrow with hosts Bangladesh taking on strong Sri Lanka at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS).
The match, extended to six days with December 29 kept as rest day due to the national election, begins at 9:30 am.
Ahead of the longer-version encounter, both teams had their last sessions of practice at the match venue today (Thursday). The home side had practice in the morning while the visitors in the afternoon.
This will be the 11th encounter between the two test playing sides as
Sri Lanka enjoys supremacy winning all the previous 10 matches.
Bangladesh is likely to go in the match with three pacers and one specialist spinner as left-arm spinner Enamul Haque Jr. might feature as 12th man.
Top order batsman Rajin Saleh and left-arm pacer Sajedul Islam are likely to be out of the final squad.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference this (Thursday) afternoon,
Bangladesh skipper Mohammad Ashraful expressed his usual optimism to display their best performance in the first match.
