Murray into semi-finals of Qatar open
DOHA: Andy Murray set up another meeting with Roger Federer by beating Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-4, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Qatar Open in Doha.
Murray raced to a 3-0 lead in the second set, despite some stunning shots from the Ukrainian, with a backhand on the run in the fourth game leaving Murray flat-footed, but the Scot''s consistency was key. Murray moved to within one game of victory yet failed to wrap up a love set as Stakhovsky broke him and then saved a match point on his own serve to reduce the deficit to 2-5. Murray made no mistake on his next opportunity though, winning on his second match point.
The British No1 has played his next opponent, Federer, five times in the last year, with Murray winning four of those matches but losing the US Open final. Murray, the defending champion in Doha, beat the world No2 last week in the semi-finals of the World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.
The winner of tomorrow''s last-four clash will be a firm favourite to win the title on Saturday following top seed Rafael Nadal''s defeat to Gael Monfils earlier today.
