Murli, Mendis to witness tough time: Intikhab
KARACHI: Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam said on Friday that his team is fully prepared to tackle world class Sri Lanka spinners Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis in three match One-day series.
“We know Murli and Mendis are class bowlers but our batsmen are quite capable of handling them,” he told media in an interview on his arrival from Lahore to supervise the short training camp of Pakistan team starting here from Saturday.
“It will be a great psychological warfare between Pakistan batsmen and Lankan spinners, he said and added that he is confident that Pakistan would do well against Sri Lankan.
Intikhab said that Pakistan has experienced Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Captain Shoaib Malik and Salman Butt, newcomer Khurram Manzoor in their batting ranks with exciting Shahid Afridi.
He said Murli and Mendis would be bowling only 20 overs between them and we can work out how to handle them.
“Asian Champion Sri Lanka got a better track record and they have played more cricket then us. But my team is ready to face all challenges,” national team coach maintained.
