IPOH: Pakistan will play against Egypt in their third match of the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament here today.

Pakistan’s performance has so far been disappointing as they were defeated in their both previous matches in the tournament.

In their first match, Pakistan were beaten by Malaysia while in the second match they were defeated by New Zealand.

Pakistan team manager Asif Bajwa said that the national team would perform better in the third match and it would not repeat the mistakes which caused defeat in their first two matches.

IPOH, Malaysia: Pakistan hockey team outclassed Egypt by four goals to nil in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup here on Thursday.

Pakistan dominated the match right from the beginning till the end as they were 2-0 in the first half and finished 4-0.

Their first goal came in the 14th minute by Mohammad Imran and the second goal was made only four minutes later by Shakeel Abbasi who scored two more goals in the second half to achieve a hat-trick.

The other match played between India and New Zealand ended in a draw as both teams made two goals each.

Sandeep Singh made both goals for India while for New Zealand Richard Petherick and Joseph Barth Holomew scored a goal each.

Pakistan with this victory came back in a position to reach the final of the tournament.

Currently, Malaysia are on top with six points while India are on second and New Zealand on third position.

Pakistan have so far obtained the fourth position in the tournament and if they win their last match on April 11 then they may get the honour of playing the final.
