Australia demolish New Zealand to reach U-19 World Cup semis
RANGIORA: Australia knocked aside New Zealand to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup here at the Mainpower Oval on Sunday.
Chasing a tough target of 233, New Zealand were all out for 170 runs sin 43.2 overs giving Australia a 62-run victory.
Winning the toss and elected to bat first, Australia made 232 for eight in the allotted 50 overs.
Their main scorers were Mitchell Marsh (53) and Nic Maddinson (39) off 45 balls, Tim Armstrong (39) and Alex Keath (32).
For New Zealand, captain Craig Cachopa was the top scorer with 34 runs while Hazlewood claimed two wickets for 24 runs for Australia.
Australia will now meet Sri Lanka, who crushed South Africa in the other quarter-final, on Wednesday.
