Aisam back home after winning doubles title in SA

LAHORE: Pakistan tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq has returned home after winning the doubles event in the South African Open Tennis Tournament, held in Johannesburg.

Aisam with Rohan Bopanna clinched their first Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour doubles title after a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory over Karol Beck and Harold Levy in the final of $442,500 South African Open on Sunday.

Talking with media on arriving here at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Aisam-ul-Haq said that this is a good beginning of the year by winning the title.

He said that his dream of winning the Australian Open could not be fulfilled but the victory in South Africa has forgotten it.

Aisam further said that he would participate in France, Dubai and Davis Cup in future while also attend the camp in Lahore.

Unseeded Bopanna and Qureshi finally won an ATP doubles title together in their third attempt, having finished runners-up in both the previous final appearances in Mumbai (2007) and at Newport (2008).
