Aisam-Bopanna pair in Napoli tennis final

NAPOLI: Pakistan tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Indiaís Rohan Bopanna moved into the menís doubles final of the Napoli ATP Challenger Championship.

Aisam, Pakistanís lone representative on the international tennis circuit, and his Indian partner Bopanna beat Argentinaís Diego Junqueira and Martin Vassallo Arguello 7-6, 6-4, in the clay-court tournament in Italy.

Trailing 4-3 in the first set, Aisam and Bopanna struck back to break their opponentsí next service game and levelled the score at 4-4. At 6-6, the set went into a tie-break, where the sub-continental duo took an early break and converted the set point at 6-7 and won the set 7-6 (8/6) in 50 minutes.

In the second set, they played a more aggressive game and converted one of the four breakpoints they had won to take a 4-3 lead. Qureshi and Bopanna won the second set 6-4 to enter the final.

Out of a total of 134 points played, the winners took 69 points with the help of five aces and their opponents won 65 points with two aces in the one-and-a-half-hour long match.

The duo will face Dustin Brown of Jamaica and Jesse Witten of the US in the final.
