Nadal avenges Federer defeat in Madrid
Nadal avenged his Zurich defeat to Roger Federer by triumphing in the second - and last - match of their charity series.
Playing on home soil in Madrid, Nadal ended a two-match losing streak against his Swiss adversary by winning 7-6 4-6 6-1 in one hour and 49 minutes.
Having thrown away a one-set lead when the two players met in Switzerland on Tuesday, Nadal was in danger of seeing history repeat itself when he surrendered the second frame.
But the world No. 1 battled back with two breaks in the third, putting the seal on a glorious year that has seen him lift three of the four grand slams.
