Owen fitness boost for Manchester United
Michael Owen has handed Manchester United a festive tonic by declaring himself fit for action.
The striker has been in the treatment room since suffering yet another hamstring injury in the Red Devils' draw with Sunderland at the beginning of October.
The festive period will put a strain on squads and United face Sunderland on Boxing, Day, Birmingham on December 28 and West Brom on New Year's Day, and Owen is ready to add some meat to the United party.
Owen, who has been linked with a loan move to West Ham, told The Sun: "I'm fit and I've been in full training for three-and-a-half weeks.
"The hard bit now is getting back into the side, trying to force my way back into the squad. That's not easy at United.
"There are that many quality players at United that you're given as much time as you need to come back from injury. But I'm fit and hope to play a part in the games over Christmas."
