KARACHI: Fierce bowling by Sohail Khan destroyed the batting line of Punjab as it made 173 runs for nine wickets when the first day’s play ended in a Pentangular Cup match here at the National Stadium on Tuesday.

Sindh preferred fielding after winning the toss and this decision by captain Shahid Afridi proved right.

From Punjab, Salmen Butt (20), Mohammad Hafeez (17) and Abdul Rehman (21) were the main scorers while from Sindh, Sohail Khan again demonstrated bowling talents and sent four Punjab players back to the pavilion.

Besides, Rizwan Ahmed claimed two wickets while Abdul Ameer, Anwar Ali and Shahid took one wicket each.

Captain of the national team who is also captaining Punjab did not play due to his mother’s illness while Mohammad Yousuf is not appearing in his third successive match after playing the first of the tournament.
