Steven Gerrard pulls out of England squad
Steven Gerrard will not be available for England's friendly against Denmark after suffering a groin strain in Liverpool's win at Chelsea.
The Reds skipper was expected to captain Fabio Capello's side in the absence of the injured Rio Ferdinand, but despite completing 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge, Kenny Dalglish confirmed he would not be available for selection.
Gerrard will be assessed by doctors on Monday but will not travel to Denmark.
"He has a groin problem," Dalglish said. "He has to go so they can have a look at him but we've spoken to England and he'll not be playing."
