Cesc has 90% chance of facing Barca
Cesc Fabregas has been given a 90 per cent chance of being fit to travel with the Arsenal squad for the second leg of their Champions League clash with Barcelona and manager Arsene Wenger has described it as vital that he is fit.
Spain international Fabregas has been suffering from niggling injuries this term and limped out of the win over Stoke on February 23 with a hamstring strain. The problem was described as minor, but it kept him out of the win over Leyton Orient in the FA Cup and draw with Sunderland in the Premier League.
Fabregas will be put through his paces later on Monday and Wenger is positive that his captain will make the trip to Spain - with Arsenal protecting a 2-1 lead.
"Fabregas will have a final test, but it is 90 per cent he will travel. It is vital for us," Wenger told Sky Sports News. "It is important the transition between defending and attacking because it relieves pressure and he can find the ball as well.
"He is the leader of the team so it is important to have him."
Alex Song will not make the trip, as Wenger added: "He had a test yesterday and the test was negative."
